Home Beautician course 4 What is highlighter?

What is highlighter?

An illuminator is a makeup product that reflects light. “Usually it’s
on the highest points of the face and areas you want to highlight, or
is more important,” says Shojaie. You can apply the highlighter to the cheekbones,
temples, eyebrows and even the cupid’s bow and the bridge of the
nose.
It should be noted that highlighters are often formulated with mica, a shimmering mineral
traditionally obtained using child labor in rural
India. Fortunately, some brands are now using lab-grown mica,
and major cosmetics companies – including Estée Lauder and L’Oréal – have pledged to improve traceability in the Indian mica industry to create a supply chain more ethical
.

Where to brighten
1. Cheekbones
Start where the skin is brightest: the cheekbones. To highlight your bone structure and
to give your face a more defined look, apply a light highlighter to your cheekbones. Drag it just below the
temple to avoid the highlights.
2.

The purpose of the
Nose
Bridge Highlights is to draw attention to where light naturally hits your face, i.e. the highlights.
Since the bridge of the nose is the highest point on the face, it makes sense to add a highlight to it. Make sure to mix it with
so you don’t get any harsh lines on your nose.
3. Your cupid’s bow
The cupid’s bow is the middle curve of your upper lip.
Area highlighting helps lift the lips, while
gives them a fuller, more defined shape.
4. Your brow bone
The brow bone is also the area of the face that absorbs light and is part of your bone structure. Add some brightness so it looks like
.
5.

Inner corners of the eyes
The area under the eyes and the inner corners are more likely to darken than the rest of the face. Add a little
Highlighter to brighten the area and make your eyes look more awake.
6. Center of
lid A great way to brighten up your eyes and your overall appearance is to add a subtle touch to the center of the
lid. Although not suitable if you want a dark smoky eye, it will add luminosity to skin
on natural makeup days.
7. Chin Center
If you have a longer or more oval face and want to round it out a bit, highlighting the center of your chin is a great
makeup tip. Make sure to really blend this area with the
highlighter to make sure it looks natural.
How do I use reflections?
Using a highlighter can add beautiful color to your skin,
and improve your bone structure.
Highlighter only takes
seconds to apply because you only have to apply it to a few small areas of the face
. But
a few drops of highlighter can brighten up your whole face. Even if you’re new to
makeup, learning to use the highlighter is easy.
1. Apply the highlighter to the inner corner of the eye.
Use an illuminating eyeshadow brush and apply a little Highlighter
on the tip. Then take the brush and press it into the corner of the inner eyelid. [1]
● If you want a more dramatic effect, you can apply multiple coats or just apply
Light Dust for subtle highlights.
2. Pass the highlighter over the brow bone.
The area just under the forehead catches a lot of light, so this
is a great highlight area. Try sweeping the highlighter over the brow bone, the area just below the
brow bone. [2]
● Try to keep most of the highlighter on the outer edge of the brow bone. You do not need to apply Highlighter
to the entire brow bone.
● You can also extend the highlighter to the crease of the eyelid for an additional
eye-brightening effect.
[3]
3. Add some highlighter above the upper lip. The area in the middle of the upper lip is called Cupid’s bow
,
and highlighting this area will draw more attention to your lips. Take a small amount of highlighter on
with fingertips and press onto area. [4]
● Do not apply highlighter to actual lips, only to the area directly above the lips.
4. Swipe the highlighter to the center of the chin. Highlighting the center of the jawline also helps draw
‘s attention to the lips. Try swiping a little highlighter in
the center of your chin. [5]
● Be careful not to apply too much highlighter to this area.
All you have to do is swipe.
● If you have highlighted your forehead, try to make the highlight on your chin as consistent as the highlight on your forehead
.

Different ways to use a highlighter..
skin is not naturally oily , so a highlighter can help counteract the one-dimensional quality that
can
sometimes have when creating full-coverage looks.
