Wankhede already buzzing with ‘Mumbai Cha Raja Rohit Sharma’ chants as fans fill up stadium


The wait will be over in just a few hours as the Indian team will be felicitated at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. As team India is still en route to Mumbai from Delhi, the fans have started filling up the Wankhede Stadium. The ground is buzzing with the chants of ‘Mumbai Cha Raja Rohit Sharma’ as the fans await their local boy, who captained the Indian team to World Cup glory. The gates No. 2, 3 and 4 were opened for the fans sharp at 4:00 PM on July 4, Thursday. The BCCI and the Maharashtra Cricket Association also announced that the entry at Wankhede Stadium will be free.

The felicitation ceremony will kickstart at 7:00 pm, but the fans have started arriving early to ensure they witness the historic moment. It should not be a surprise if the Wankhede Stadium becomes fully packed by the time the Indian team reaches Wankhede Stadium. The dhols and Indian fans are ready to welcome the World Champions. Mumbai is set to be painted blue all over again as the streets of the city will witness an open rooftop parade. The victory parade of the Indian team will be carried across Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium.

The Men in Blue received a rousing reception from the fans as, after the cake-cutting ceremony at the ITC Maurya, Delhi, they headed to meet PM Modi at his residence.
