Microsoft Windows 11 Update Version 24H2 Is Causing Glitches With Ubisoft Games, Tech Giant Con

Microsoft has acknowledged that the most recent Windows 11 update is causing compatibility issues with certain Ubisoft games. The update, identified as Windows 11 version 24H2, is reportedly affecting titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft are actively collaborating to address the problem. Meanwhile, Microsoft has temporarily paused the update rollout on devices where these games are installed to prevent further disruptions.

Windows 11 Update Causing Issues

In a support post outlining known issues and updates for Windows 11 version 24H2, Microsoft confirmed that the 2024 update is causing certain Ubisoft games to become unresponsive. The tech giant in a post said, “After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you might encounter issues with some Ubisoft games. The problem impacts titles such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Microsoft said, “These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel.”

Microsoft Warns Users Against Manually Updating To Version 24H2

Microsoft has advised users to avoid manually upgrading to Windows 11 version 24H2 using tools like the Installation Assistant or the Media Creation Tool until the issue is resolved. The company is actively collaborating with Ubisoft to develop a permanent fix.

Ubisoft has already released an interim update for Star Wars Outlaws aimed at preventing the game from becoming unresponsive. However, Microsoft cautioned that some performance issues may still persist.

For users who have already updated to version 24H2 and are encountering problems with Ubisoft games, Microsoft recommends using the Task Manager to close the unresponsive application. Windows 11 version 24H2, the operating system’s third major update, began rolling out gradually in October.
