As Israel continues its war against Hamas, the Palestinian group marked its 36th foundation day on Friday. Israel took to microblogging site X and wrote “may this birthday be its last”.
“Hamas was founded 36 years ago today. May this birthday be its last,” Israel wrote.
In the ongoing war which entered Day 70 on Friday, more than 18,400 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory.
Israel says 113 of its soldiers have died in its ground offensive after Hamas raided southern Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people and taking about 240 hostages.
More than 130 hostages remain in Gaza. Some have been declared dead in absentia by Israeli authorities.
