Elon Musk-Owned X Introduces Stories Feature Powered by Grok AI. Premium Users To Get News Summ

Elon Musk-owned X is introducing an array of exciting new AI-powered features to enhance user experience. An official announcement from the X engineering team, shared via their X handle @XEng, reveals that premium subscribers will now benefit from a comprehensive summary of posts associated with each trending story on X. These curated stories will be conveniently accessible under the ‘For You’ tab within the ‘Explore’ section of the platform.

The ‘For You’ page serves as a personalised hub, showcasing stories and news items tailored to individual user interests. It provides users with a convenient way to stay informed and engaged with the latest happenings on X. When users click on a story, instead of simply presenting text extracted from the original article or news piece, a dynamic summary is generated. This summary is crafted based on the ongoing discussions and conversations taking place across the platform, offering users a unique perspective on the trending topics.

However, like many AI models, X cautions that Grok is prone to occasional hallucinations. Following the generated summary, users will encounter a cautionary message stating, “Grok can make mistakes, verify its outputs.”

While the concept of summarising current news trends is not novel, the manner in which these summaries are presented is innovative. During Jack Dorsey’s tenure, Twitter introduced a similar feature. However, instead of relying on AI, the platform manually curated summaries of ongoing trends and pinned tweets to provide users with the necessary context.

In recent months, X has been actively developing new features, including a conferencing solution akin to Google Meet. Additionally, earlier this month, in preparation for the general election, the platform expanded its Community Notes feature to India.
