AB de Villiers to join Rajasthan Royals:Yuzvendra Chahal invites

AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal were involved in a hilarious banter during an interaction on the former South African cricketer’s YouTube channel.

De Villiers and Chahal played quite a few seasons for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After the 2021 IPL, De Villiers retired from all forms of cricket. From the 2022 edition onwards, Chahal also made a move to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

De Villiers hilariously asked if he was good enough to play another season of the IPL.

“Do you think I have one more season in me? De Villiers asked.

In reply, Chahal replied that the right-handed batter could join the leg-spinner at the Royals.

“Yeah, definitely, you can come to Rajasthan now,” Chahal said.

“You know, I was playing with the kids in the nets yesterday and I picked up those small bats that came up to my knee. But I hit a couple in the middle of the bat and I felt, maybe I should hit a couple of balls and have a feel for it again,” De Villiers said.

“Even at 50-60, you can hit sixes. There is no doubt,” Chahal added.

Both Chahal and de Villiers played crucial roles for the Challengers in the IPL. Even after not playing two seasons, Chahal remains as the all-time leading wicket-taker for RCB in the history of the tournament. In 113 matches, Chahal picked up 139 wickets at an economy rate of 7.58 with two four-wicket hauls to his name.

De Villiers, on the other hand, played 157 matches in which he scored 4522 runs at an average of 41.10 and a strike-rate of 158.33 with two hundreds and 37 fifties to show for his efforts.
