India beat Sri Lanka in the second T20I match of the series to take an unassailable lead of 2-0. Ravi Bishnoi was named the player of the match for his stunning 3/26 in Pallekele. The spell helped India restrict the Lankans to just 161 runs, which they later chased down with ease in te rain-affected game. The 23-year-old brought India back into the game by dismissing Pathum Nissanka, who was looking in ominous form once again.
Bishnoi further dismissed Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga off consecutive deliveries to spark a Sri Lankan collapse in the death overs. Courtesy of his marvellous performance, Sri Lanka were restricted to 161/9 in their 20 overs.
After the match, Bishnoi and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh engaged in some hilarious banter. Arhsdeep revealed that Bishnoi was always in a hurry in every single aspect of his life.
“One thing about Bishnoi is that he is always in a hurry. He quickly eats his Lunch, and once he gets done with his food, he is in a hurry to get back to his hotel room. So, because of his nature to do everything in a hurry, he also took three wickets quickly,” said Arshdeep Singh.
“Yes, that is why even my bowling run-up is fast. I have had this habit since childhood. Because of this, I get hungry quickly and then eat my food also quickly. I am trying to change this habit but haven’t succeded in it,” remarked Bishnoi.
In the 31 T20Is so far, Bishnoi has picked 46 wickets at an average of 18.95 and an economy of 7.22. He recently registered the best bowling figures of his career as he picked 4/13 in the first T20I against Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, India will be eager to complete a whitewash in the third and final T20I on Tuesday, July 30 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
